About Us

Founded in 1979, this program offers early childhood learning experiences for children ages 3 months through 5 years. 

Curriculum

For our youngest students (ages 1–2), we focus on helping them discover that the world outside of their home can be a fun and safe place. Our nurturing and warm teachers respond to each child’s needs, ensuring a smooth transition into a positive first school experience. Children in this age group enjoy activities such as art, short story times, Bible stories, and outdoor play. Through daily routines, they develop social skills like taking turns, sharing, and listening, all while exploring the world around them.

For preschool-aged children (ages 3–4), we believe learning happens best through a combination of developmentally appropriate methods. This includes child-directed exploration of learning centers, small group activities, large group activities, and some direct instruction. Our balanced schedule includes exploratory learning, teacher-led group times, and large motor play both indoors and outdoors.

Classroom activities are planned around engaging and age-appropriate themes such as insects, dinosaurs, and favorite holidays. Each classroom features interest centers including Reading/Writing, Science, Art, Math/Manipulatives, Music/Movement, Blocks, and Dramatic Play. These activities are designed to prepare children for success in kindergarten, with the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum supplementing our center-based learning approach.

Our daily routine also incorporates prayer and age-appropriate Bible stories that teach about God’s love and encourage children to “treat others as we want to be treated” (Matthew 7:12 and Luke 6:31).

Philosophy

Our program runs for nine months, following the Edmond Public School calendar.

  • Mother’s Day Out: Available for children ages 3 months to 3 years.
  • Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten: Designed for children ages 4 and 5 years.

Since 1979, FUMC Preschool and Mother’s Day Out has been dedicated to providing a high-quality, developmentally appropriate, Christian learning environment for children ages 3 months to 5 years.

Our program emphasizes learning through creative thinking and play while nurturing emotional, physical, academic, social, and spiritual development. Through daily play and interactions with peers and teachers, children are encouraged to grow and thrive.

At FUMC Preschool and Mother’s Day Out, we strive to foster a positive self-image in each child within a safe, stable, and secure environment.

We believe that God uniquely created each child with unlimited worth and a valuable contribution to make to the world.

In our program, children are loved, nurtured, and taught foundational biblical truths while also building a strong academic foundation to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond.
